Mountain to Sea Today
Andrew Mackintosh July 14th, 2018
We had a fantastic second leg of the mountain to sea walkway today. A big thank you to all that contributed, especially Sel who explained rock forest ecosystem, Neil filling in local history, and Liz for sharing info about the Central Interceptor. A few more months and we’ll walk the next leg, so watch out for it.
Mountain to Sea Walk – July 2018
Andrew Mackintosh July 4th, 2018
On Saturday the 10th of March, STEPS will be walking the second stage of the Meola Waititiko Mountain to Sea Walk, from Kerr Taylor Reserve to Rawalpindi Reserve!
This is following on from the first section of the walk we did in March from the summit of Owairaka Mt Albert to Ker Taylor Reserve. Its a chance to learn about the Roy Clements Treeway, the geography of Meola Waititiko, all while stretching your legs in good company.
Come and join us on this hikoi!
Details of the walk can be found here: http://www.meolacreek.org.nz/meola-waititiko-mountain-to-sea-walk/ .
We are only 3km, and we will be taking our time. This is replacing the regular working bee for the month, as we did so much hard work planting in June. We will probably take breaks at the War Memorial Reserve and Norgrove Reserve on the way. Kids welcome, so bring the whole family.
Meet at 10am on Saturday 14th July at the bridge in Kerr Taylor Reserve (aka Fergusson Reserve) which can be accessed via Fergusson Ave, off Fowlds Ave.
For those driving or biking to the start, there will be cars at the end to shuttle walkers back to their cars or bikes.
If weather looks poor, see https://www.meolacreek.org.nz on the day at 8am to check for cancellation.
We hope to see you there!
