STEPS reported an infected hedge near St Lukes on 13 March.
This posed a major threat to many of the special trees in nearby Roy Clements Treeway.
It took some time to get permits for removal on this public walkway but was removed by 12 April. We thank Auckland Council for the care taken here and also with the infected lophomyrtus on the treeway.
We ask members to keep a look out, especially on ramarama plants, also pohutakawa, rata manuka and kanuka. Call MPI biosecurity hotline – 0800 80 99 66 immediately if you find it, and do not touch.

Further to Water Quality in Auckland Council 10 Year Plan STEPS has produced a draft submission supporting the Auckland Plan and 10 Year plan. Council has included approximately $2 billion for stormwater treatment and Central Interceptor. Water Quality spending over the next 10 years will focus on the Western Isthmus and bring some improvements to our communities, our Harbours and our streams. NEIGHBOURS’ DAY!

We had fantastic Neighbours’ days in recent years, so please join us and get to know your old and new neighbours even better!
We again received a $200 grant from our Albert-Eden Local Board, which we plan to use for
– a bouncy castle for the kids (from 3pm on, needs supervision)
– a basic organic sausages sizzle & pita bread
Please bring a salad or dessert or nibbles & BYO drinks of any kind to share, your own plates, cutlery and glasses.
Please RSVP if you can so we know how many sausages to get. Please let us know if you require gluten-free or vegetarian food.
